How to Get to Okatse Canyon from Kutaisi
The easiest way to travel to Okatse Canyon is to have a public bus from Kutaisi. It dispatches from Kutaisi central bus station located on Chavchavadze avenue at the side of McDonald’s. Not to be confused with McDonald’s at the central square of Kutaisi. To reach the central bus station station from the city center, you may take City Bus N1 or a taxi. Minibus departs at 09:00-10:00 once a day and costs —-gel. It reaches Okatse Canyon in 1,5 hour.

How to Get to Okatse Canyon from Kutaisi
At Visitor Center of Okatse Canyon and Okatse Waterfall
The main highlight of the Okatse Canyon are the Hanged bridges looking over the gorge. Hanged bridges of Okatse Canyon are located 2.5 km away from the Visitors center. You may buy tickets at the visitor center or at the entrance to the bridges. Although, It’s important to note, that the area is mountainous and ticket machine at the entrance to the bridges is not always available (issues with the internet). So, we recommend buying tickets at the visitor center.. The entrance fee is 20 gel.
There are 2 options to reach the bridges; The first – by walking. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the bridges. Walking the Bridge itself takes about 1 hour, plus 1 hour for the way back. You may need about 2.5 hours, in total, for the sightseeing. The second option – if you don’t feel like walking, you may take a taxi, offered by local drivers. They are parked at the front side of the visitor center. For about 50 gel, the driver will take you to the bridges, wait for you there and take you back. You save about 1 – 1.5 hours with this option. It is also possible to walk your way to the bridges (mainly walking downwards) and take the taxi on the way back for almost half the initial price.
IMPORTANT: Kids under 120 cm are not allowed at Okatse hanged bridges because of safety regulations. At the time of rain, Okatse Canyon is closed for visitors.

Okatse Waterfall / Kinchkha Waterfall

In about 20 minute drive from Okatse visitor center (upwards in mountains) you encounter the Okatse Waterfall. It’s original name is Kinchkha, named after the village nearside. It is a three-step waterfall cascade in the river gorge of Satsikvilo. It flows from the Eastern part of the massive to chalk stone slopes. From the upper steps, the water falls from 25 and 70 meter heights into the flatland, where huge siphons are formed. After joining the small river, the third, 20 meter high waterfall descends.
If you arrive to Canyon by minibus, you may visit Kinchkha by taxi provided by locals at Okatse Canyon visitor Center. It may cost gel 50-80. In summer waterfall becomes very shallow and almost not worthy of a visit. Entrance fee – 17.50 gel.
Lomina Waterfall
Apart of Okatse Canyon and Okatse Waterfall, the most beautiful place to visit in the Okatse area, is Lomina Waterfall. Emerald green lake surrounded by huge rocky mountains, gives you a sense of extreme peace and tranquility. It’s a 15 minute drive from Kinchkha waterfall. There is a trail through the forest that breaks from the road and leads you to the waterfall. You may also find signs of the trail on the map. The location is accessible via Taxi and It is possible to swim and camp nearby.
